UPDATE: Thanks to all for entering the contest and for coming out to the readings — I had a blast this week meeting everyone!

I used a numbers randomizer to select the winners, who are … Cass and Mamabird — congratulations! I’ll sign the copies and get in touch via email to figure out where to ship them. Thank you again! I hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day!

In honor of Father’s Day, I’m giving away two free copies of What I Would Tell Her, the book I have an essay published in.

Just leave a comment by Saturday night and I’ll announce the randomly selected winners on Sunday.

I also wanted to remind you of a couple readings planned this week. I’m excited by all the letters and kind words (thank you!), and I can’t wait to see everyone there:

We’re still going to be on View from the Bay on Tuesday afternoon, but the show won’t be aired until next month — I’ll update when I have more details.

If you can’t make it to any of these events, I’ll also be reading on Saturday night at the paperback release party for Jeremy Adam Smith’s The Daddy Shift, one of my favorite books of the year. The show starts at 5 p.m. at Green Arcade Books and I’ll probably be reading an edited version of this. Hope you can make it, if only to hear about my penis.

Now let the giveaway begin — good luck!

I could never put my finger on why I enjoy your writings so much: and then it hit me. Your words have the cool-hunkiness of Jake Ryan mixed with the quirky cartoonishness of Ducky Dale.
    Well done, sir.

  22. I already ordered one from B&N, but I’d give one to my brother in law, soon to be a new dad, too.

  23. I’ll take a copy!

  24. rosemary says:

i love reading what you write – mainly because it is so real and succinct. You just tell it like it is and that is one of my fav qualities in people. I leave your blog with a feeling of having soaked in some real life stuff – even though we have never met. Besides the bleeding penis and heart attack-itis stories, I love, love, love the first draft of your christmas letter! O my god, if I had only kept some of those crazy things I’ve gotten over the years from people I could put together a book that would reduce you to tears! Some people should probably skip the christmas letter and just rent a billboard.

  25. I want a copy, and happy FD to you.

  26. Hey Mike,
