I got the idea for these mother’s day silhouettes from one of my favorite new blogs, Peep Thread. It’s written by a longtime friend with an incredible eye for craftiness. (She, in turn, got the idea from here — which is yet another reason why I read Peep Thread every day: good ideas.)
Finding the frames for this project turned into a day of fun. After dropping off the grandparents at the San Jose airport last month for a trip they were taking, Emme and I hit up every thrift store we could find on the way home, finally calling it quits when we couldn’t find any oval-shaped frames. We ended up with a couple square frames that we painted at home and then stopped at Target for some ovals.
I won’t go into the details of making these — for some great instructions try The Nesting Game, another new favorite blog — but I will say it is very, very, very important to have some good profile photos to use. Do not try to just wing it. You will ruin mother’s day ….
