It’s 4 in the morning. I’m up eating a fantastic mush of oatmeal, chia seeds, wheat bran and flax seed. It’s so freaking healthy even a vegan would be all, “Dude, that sounds weird.”
It’s race day.
After nearly half a year of training, it’s finally time to go escape from Alcatraz, my first-ever triathlon. Wish me luck. Update to come … pending survival.

Best of luck to you!! Here’s hoping the hamis hold out.
Yay! You couldn’t have a more beautiful day to do it! Good luck.
Well that was … interesting.
Finished! Yay! But I feel a little disappointed because I think I could have finished a lot better. Easy swim with a personal record for that distance and a sort of meh bike because I wanted to save my legs for the run. But I think I may have saved too much for the run. Feel I could have turned it on a little more on bike and still felt comfortable for the last bit. Live. Learn. Go vomit. Awesome.
Anyway … that said … I’m calling it a successful first-ever triathlon. I’m pretty stoked to have finished, and the best part was that Emme ran with me for about 25 yards toward the end. Definitely the highlight I’ll remember forever.
Congrats for going through with it!
