So here is Zorro, demolishing his toy … or getting ready to. Those red little antennae? Are no more.
It’s been an amazingly fast and crazy three weeks here — so much so that any thoughts of time before summer feel like a blur: Emme finished school on a Friday, I do a big ass triathlon on a Sunday, we get our first family dog that same night, some friends, who also got a puppy, go on vacation a few weeks later and leave their pooch for us to sit, and then Emme and I spend the next week picking up so many steaming piles of backyard gifts that … well I don’t even want to think of a simile. At least Emme’s getting pretty good at her main dog job.
So all that is to explain why posting has been light. It’s summer and I’m trying to chill with Emme, while also trying to house train two pups. And I have to say, Zorro is killing it.
Seriously, I’ve never seen so smart a dog, and yes, of course, I’m bragging about the kid. In just two weeks, he learned five awesome tricks — not to mention getting the hang of pooping in the side yard, not the main grass area. We had a trainer come over one day to help us with family “pack” issues, and she asked us to bring Zorro in as a demonstration dog for her training program. That is how awesome he is.
It’s been three weeks now since we brought him home — this dog we found in a box on a beach trail. We’re so pleased he’s doing so well. Here’s to second chances.
