Summersicles

Oh thank you dear sweet ice cream loving Jebus. You have given us a reason to exist.

Popsicles.

Not Popsicles, I suppose. But popsicles: knock-off frozen ice cream on sticks … only better.

At the new Soma Streatfood food truck park — yeah, it sounds a little hipster, yuppy-ish but you get over it pretty quickly after a pork belly sandwich followed by a deconstructed Indian something and the very best dessert you could ever hope to buy — Dana, Emme and I had these miracles of frozen concoctions from Garden Creamery.

Emme had raspberry ice cream coated in white chocolate and sprinkles, and while incredibly tasty, the look and feel was completely reminiscent of those Mother’s Cookie animal-shaped treats that always taste like wax and childhood to me. I mean that in a good way. Dana had raspberry ice cream covered in white chocolate with pretzels caked on it, giving the most delicious sweet-salty combo possible. Yum. I’d sell a kidney for another one of those. Maybe both.

The Streatfood park has already become our go-to place to take out of towners, as it’s fun and easy to please all tastes. But we’ll be going back for the ice cream alone. The pork belly is just icing on the cake ….

  1. Yuppy or not – a Streatfood park sounds like just about my favorite thing ever.

  2. Sweet loving sprinkles! I live on the wrong coast.
