2013

When I was in third grade, I wrote “The Case of the Missing Valentine” and knew immediately what I wanted to do with my life.

It may have taken a whole lot longer than my third-grade self envisioned, but 2013 is the year.

This is my book.

It comes out in May.

Just in time for Father’s Day.

“Dad’s Book of Awesome Projects” is basically what might happen if Martha Stewart and MacGyver ever got together and had a baby.

Duct tape, recipes, wood, fabric, scissors, saws — there are so many kick-ass projects that your crafty little head is going to burst with joy.

Over the next few months, as the publication date nears, I’ll be changing up the web site a bit to get ready. There will be contests, games, crafts, giveaways, you name it.

But more on that later.

I just wanted to start 2013 off with a bang and say stay tuned.

  1. Oooooooohhhhhhh.

Seven-year-old me wishes my dad had had this book, and the will to use it.

    Congratulations!

  2. Awesome! I’ll post it on my FB page when it’s released! Like the Steward/MacGyver comparison btw!

  3. Thanks you two! Very excited.

  4. And….pre-ordered on amazon.

  5. Ha! Seriously? I didn’t even know you could DO that yet. I literally JUST SENT a new round of edits in.

    Thanks!

  6. I don’t even have kids yet and I want it! I love the stuff you do with your daughter!

  7. Congrats!

  8. Congrats, Mike! As the husband of someone who’s written two sewing books, I can appreciate how much time, effort, and discipline goes into putting together a book full of projects. Well done!

  9. (I’m the creeper who read every page of your blog in two days instead of studying for finals), figured I should introduce myself before saying congrats and I can’t wait to buy a copy! I’m pretty sure you’re the coolest father in the world.

  10. Thanks so much! (I hope you got a good grade or at least didn’t fail miserably!)
    You guys rock.

  11. Kim "mama Sxia" says:

Dude, you rock. Why did you not bring it out before I bought my husband Handy Dad for Christmas? Don’t worry. I will still be buying it.

  12. This is so inspiring. Congrats – I can’t wait to share this book with dads and dads-to-be that I love!

  13. Just to be clear, I don’t have to have a penis to own this book, right?

Seriously, congratulations. It looks awesome and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

  14. And according to Amazon, I’ll have my hands on it May 20th!

  15. I need to get a special sticker for the book that says, “No penises required.” Should sell like hotcakes …

  16. Fantastic! I’m so excited for you and the book. We just became parents in September and this is definitely going to be part of the first Father’s Day. I can’t wait!
    Congratulations!

  17. Dude, can’t wait to see it. I’m soooo excited! Bubbs needs some awesome projects.
